The Parco del Subasio surrounds the 1290-high Mount Subasio, dominating over the north-eastern section of the Valle Umbra with a network of mountain footpaths and itineraries.
The main roads that run through the park connect the historic towns of Assisi, Spello, Nocera Umbra and Valtopina with the smaller villages above.
Besides the main roads, which are accessible to cars, a number of organised trails and footpaths that can also be explored on horseback extend into the park, particularly from hamlets such as Costa di Trex, Armenzano, San Giovanni and Collepino, right up to the summit of Monte Subasio.

The Park of Mount Subasio contains a permanent geo-paleonthological exhibition at the park’s documentation centre. Arranged in two rooms, with one dealing exclusively with Mount Subasio and the other devoted to fossilisation and the Earth’s geological eras, the show features fossilised tree trunks, pirite, insects in amber, reptile footprints, fossilised plants and other interesting finds.
Opening hours: every day from 9am to 1pm; open also on Sundays during the month of August from 9.30am to 12.30pm and from 3.30 to 6pm.
